Non-standard closedowns and startups.
#1
@RandomMe, you have to read this.

This thread is for archiving special closedowns/startups. WARNING: Video embeds are not allowed because some of them may be terrifying (especially the BBC Christmas 1992 closedown, which terrified everyone, even children and me).

Here is 1 example: Some ITV stations that refused to play the anthem (and some that DID play the anthem) actually PLAYED it during the special events.

One of them was Granada, which closed with a special slide with the anthem playing during the 1986 Queen's birthday. Yorkshire TV also played the anthem over a clock (just like one of the BBC Northern Ireland closedowns in the 90s) in 1982, during Queen's 56th birthday (4 years were left till her 60th birthday).

Tyne Tees and Grampian (source: a sketchy YouTube comment) also started their day with the National Anthem played over stills of the Queen. They would only show 1 still of the Queen, exposing her face. Then they would move to children's programming and start their day.
